Training Series: Equal Access Rule & Serving Transgender Individuals

The CoC is providing a two-part training on the Equal Access Rule, which requires equal access to HUD-funded housing and shelter programs regardless of one’s gender identity or sexual orientation. The training is for homeless service providers in Hampden County.

Session 1 is for CoC-funded housing providers: Monday, Sept. 17, 3:30-4:30 pm – Springfield Municipal Operations Center conference room, 70 Tapley St., Springfield

  • The session will explain the rule and how it arises in the context of housing.
  • CoC-funded housing providers must send a minimum of one staff person to this training (Directors were provided this information by email in August.)
  • Others are welcome!

Session 2 is for all CoC- and ESG-funded providers: Monday, Oct. 15, 2- 3:30 pm

  • The session will focus on providing services to people who are transgender
  • The presenter is Rev. Louis Mitchell, a nationally-recognized speaker, leader, and transgender man. Click his name for more info.
  • CoC- and ESG-funded providers must send a minimum of one staff person to this session.
  • Others are welcome!

The session 2 location has not yet been set–please register so we know the size of venue needed. It will take place in Springfield. The Eventbrite announcement will be updated as soon as the location is set.
